U.S. on the decline, other countries on the rise...

So Mack Trucks is closing a plant in Allentown thus letting go 680 employees. This happens after they added 150 workers recently due to an increase in orders from other countries located in Latin America, Middle East and Africa. Hmmmmmmm. So while other countries seem to be building, U.S. is somehow crumbling. Take it how you want it, THERE ARE NO SAFE JOBS. I will continue this message because it's the truth, flat out. WE ALL NEED A BACKUP PLAN. Please don't think this is an effort to try and drive business for myself. I simply want people to understand that you can't depend on anybody at the end of the day except for yourself. So the question is, What are you working on, doing or building for you, that you can depend on at the end of the day? If your only answer to that is a job and maybe some kind of savings account, I will simply pray for you.

Asking for Prayers, Kindness, Love and Care

Hannah is 4 yrs old and was diagnosed in late October 2008 with a rare and aggressive cancerous brain tumor called glioblastoma multiforme. To date (November 20) she has had 2 surgeries to remove the tumors. She is in therapy to work on her walking, which has been effected by the tumor. She has frequent headaches from the pressure on the brain.She is on steroids to help with the inflammation, which is causing her to gain weight rapidly. The doctors have given Hannah 2-3 months to live without treatment and approximately 11 months with radiation. She needs a miracle! Hannah's father's name is Darin and she has two older siblings - Brittany and Jordan. She has 3 sets of grandparents, 2 sets of great-grandparents and a large extended family and supportive church family. Her mother, Chris, passed away several years ago from cancer. Please pray for the family as they deal with cancer in the family once again.

Ben's 32 points lifts KU in second half en route to 95-56 rout of UDC

Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) tied a career-high with 32 points in a 95-56 non-conference win over the University of the District of Columbia Wednesday at Keystone Arena.

Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson) joined in with 23 points as KU (7-0) had a huge second half, outscoring the Firebirds 54-19.

With 29 seconds left in the first half, it was a three-point game, but KU used a 29-9 run extending into the second half to jump ahead by 23 points, 67-44.

Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) recorded a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Dennis was second on the team with eight rebounds. Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central) had 19 points.

The Firebirds (3-8) had four players in double-digits, too, with Kechan Myers leading the team with 14 points. David Burton had 11, Tim Ellison had 12 — all off of 3-pointers — and Ryan Wood had 11.

KU shot 52.4 percent from the floor in the second half, making 22-of-42 shots, while the District of Columbia made just 10-of-32 from the field (31.3 percent).

Dennis has now scored 20 or more points in six of KU’s seven games; Ben has done the same in five of seven.

With his seven assists, Ben moved his average to 5.2 per game.

The Golden Bears, who are off to their best start in 90 years, will look to remain unbeaten when they welcome in Philadelphia University for a non-conference 3 p.m. tip off Saturday at Keystone Arena.

Office Depot Makes Cuts

So I read this not too long ago and thought on it for a while and decided to elaborate on it because I don't think people really get what's going on. Office Depot are going to cut 112 stores, which will in turn eliminate 2,200 jobs. They usually open 40 stores a year. So along with these cuts, they will only be opening only 20 next year.

So yea, we all know the economy is bad and that's what most of us will relate this too without looking at the bigger picture. It's OFFICE Depot. Regular consumers aren't the bulk of their customers, offices are. They don't just sell paper, pens, and pencils and school supplies and simple office supplies. They basically sell EVERYTHING you could have in an office down to the cubicle itself. So Offices aren't shopping. They aren't shopping because they aren't opening. Office depot themselves are only opening half their NORMAL rate of NEW stores. Why is this such a big deal. If new businesses aren't being generated and people are already losing jobs at a record pace, how long will it be until it affects you or someone close to you.

I'm going to keep harping on this because at the end of the day; There are 2,800 4 year schools in the U.S. alone. Too keep it simple for a numbers sake and just to make a point. Let's say each semester only 200 graduate from every school. THAT'S OVER HALF A MILLION NEW QUALIFIED, CHEAP, and YOUNG, career seekers every six months! This is just for the 4 year schools people, in the U.S. Do I need to continue to stress that things are obviously going to get worst before they get better no matter what Obama does. I'm going to keep asking, because all of us really need an legitimate answer. WHAT'S YOUR BACKUP PLAN? How long could you go without a traditional job paycheck? What would you do if you couldn't find work for a month to a year or ever longer? THIS IS SERIOUS. UNDERSTAND. THEIR ARE ALTERNATIVES.

Random Thought from Dentist Visit

So I had a dentist appt at 8am today and I'm talking to the dentist while my mouth awaits the affect of the needles I got so I could get my root canal, which was a story in itself. But this isn't about my teeth at all, more so this is about the conversation we had. So he asks me what I do that I have such good insurance and can set up appointments seemingly whenever. I told him that I manage in retail at a couple stores and also work from home, so I kind of make my own schedule; as far as the insurance, I can only say that was a blessing to run into such a provider. So he continues to inquire more and I told him that I work at Swarovski and Oneida and most people don't really know what they are so I pretty much always explain them by saying, "Swarovski is a crystal store and Ondeia is a fine dinnerware store with like fine china and $25 forks." People most times responds with, "people actually buy that," or something of that nature. So he responds with, well how's it going with the economy the way it is, are people really shopping. I simply say, people are still shopping, just not in the abundance they are probably use to. He says yea this Christmas is going to be different and I reply with well it should be, maybe people will get back to the understanding and appreciating the REAL reason and meaning for Christmas. We both concur on the thought and it stayed on my mind although we went onto other topics.

Think about it, Christmas has turned into this BIG EVENT WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY off the target. This is suppose to be the celebration of our savior's birthday. To be honest, we should celebrate Christmas the way we celebrate new years, but without all the excessive drinking. But it should be one huge party counting down to his birthday and just being a ridiculous celebration of His Birthday. Instead we have people killing a walmart employee by busting down a door and trampling them to take advantage of black Friday sales. You have the ridiculous scuffles between parents fighting over this holidays most popular gift that the child might not even want or wont even play with longer than the day it opens it. Children are working hard in school simply to get a nice gift and even worst there are the ones who aren't good and still get a gift just because it's Christmas. You also have depressed adults due to the fact that they lost their steady, safe, reliable income and now their Christmas isn't going to be the same. Although they still might be healthy physically, and have their family, they don't have the money to get "gifts" so they feel like their Christmas is going to be upsetting.

Here's what I think of Christmas and will do my best to teach my kids (Lord willing) so that they understand. It's the celebration of the birth of our savior. So it's really just a big birthday party. The reason we give or receive gifts is because we are all children of god. He is in all of us so it's like it's all our birthday, which is why everyone is deserving of a gift on Christmas. The thing is, a gift isn't necessarily a toy, tv, video game, clothing, jewelry, car or anything else money can buy. A gift is a blessing or action that provides a loving feeling that money can't buy. That's what everyone deserves on Christmas. They deserve a loving feeling that money can't buy, which is why family getting together is such a big thing. Grandmothers receiving gifts via mail from the grandkids will never be better than those same kids simply being there with her empty handed. That feeling of love is the annually seeked gift of Christmas and the best thing about it is that it doesn't cost a thing (well maybe some gas or airfare). But nonetheless, even a phone call can provide that feeling because in a lot of cases when that one special phone call don't come, it can disappoint a Christmas no matter how many material gifts you get.

Sometimes people get mad at me when I tell them I will never give into the philosophy of working for someone else. I understand at the end of the day, yes, it pays the bills, allows you to do other things, and finance your future. The thing is, all of things are said hopefully. I am a Entrepreneur at heart simply because at the end of the day I can't rely on someone else to take care of me. I need to build something that in 10 plus years won't go anywhere no matter what I do or the economy does, or any one single person or groups aka Franchise Boards choose to do. I'm building my backup plan while working because at the end of the day, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS THE PERFECT JOB.

Ive been hearing a lot of comments about the McDonald's Commercial I have posted on my blog. Of course it's funny to me or I most likely wouldn't have put it up there. Most of the response is the same. What's the Beef? The response that says this commercial is somehow racist, or wrong in some way or that it makes black people look bad. How, Why, What would make you think that? Have we forgotten the bee-bopping white guy and his rapping buddy...Was that not funny as well? Why is it when an all black cast and black spin get put on something it always has to get judge differently. I pray to see the day this nonsense doesn't exist.

Ben Posts 24 as KU Routs Penn State-Berks

Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) led the Kutztown University men’s basketball team with a game-high 24 points in a 90-49 win over Penn State-Berks Saturday at the Beaver Community Center.

Ben is now four points behind George Krell (1967-70), who is third on the all-time scoring list at KU.

Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson) and Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central) also finished in double digits with 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Dennis and Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) led the team in rebounding with seven each.

KU (6-0) forced Penn State-Berks (1-8) to turn the ball over 30 times and recorded 21 steals — Ben had a career-high nine.

The Golden Bears forced eight of those turnovers in the final 3:30 of the first half, surprising Penn State-Berks by moving into the full-court press. Off guard, the Nittany Lions were flustered and saw a 10-point lead grow into a 19-point lead at half, 44-25.

An alley-oop from Ben to Dennis set the tone right away in the second half and KU continued to roll.

Julius Gray (so. Lincoln/Oxford) made three 3-pointers and the Golden Bears shot 16-of-20 from the free-throw line.

KU will return home for a 7 p.m. tipoff against District of Columbia on Dec. 17.

A Tale of Two Tales

So there are these two ladies whom I work with (one at each job) who are old enough to be my mother. One lady is sort of an older more improved version of me. Rarely will you ever see her even hint at being truly upset, sure she gets somewhat aggravated here and there and let's out some frustration, but never is it at the end of the day a real big deal. She sings randomly, seems to always have a 'genuine' smile, and just reeks a warming feeling with her presence. The other lady sadly is quite the opposite in this reference: She complains just about everyday about some thing period, and doesn't just complain about it and it's over, but really has a problem with something, EVERYDAY. She is always depressed due to her certain circumstances, which are still better than most peoples at the end of the day. Her needs are covered as far as I know. Her main gripe at the end of the day is that she once was rich and now she isn't due to the common practices of the corporate world. Either way, I personally feels as though God is trying her to help her but she isn't getting the message so he keeps making it worst until she gets it.

So I'm at work today with the depressing, complaining one and she ask me how am I doing today. I simply replied, "I'm pretty ok outside of me being somewhat sick." She responds, "physically or mentally." I'm thinking, why would I ever be mentally sick with God on my side. So I respond with, "my throat is still soar and the other day I had a headache all day, my mental will always be ok." She replies, "well I'm mentally sick, no matter what I do, no matter how much I pray, things just keep getting worst, and I can't figure out what God is trying to teach me and its driving me crazy." Now to most people, you would feel for her, or want to console her or help her, but this is her just about everyday. On top of that, she finishes up with these statements; "Everyday I wake up it's just more bad things, it's to the point where sometimes I just don't want to get out of bed." I WAS FURIOUS ON THE INSIDE. Needless to say, be careful what you ask for, and I'm going to leave that there. But if that wasn't enough, she sums up the conversation with this, "Christmas use to be my holiday......" She basically goes on about how she use to have so much money and could get people all these gifts and that would be what made Christmas special to her, to be able to do all that for people and now that she can't she's depressed. I left the store after this point to keep myself from hurting her feelings.

First and foremost; CHRISTMAS ISN'T ABOUT SANTA CLAUSE AND GIFT GIVING!!! Like I said, this is a woman who is old enough to be my mother who claims to believe in God and so on and so on, but yet, your sitting here truly upset that you can't provide multiple gifts for your family like you use to. My gosh I was annoyed. I learned Christmas wasn't about gifts how many years ago and to just be with family and to celebrate the birth of our saviour is what it all was about. Like I said, I had to leave the store. So I left the store and went over to my other job to vent to the loving, never too upset older lady. She obviously agreed with me and the icing on the cake was when she said, "Paul does she have kids," which I replied, "yes," and she replied with, "well tell her that gifts aren't everything because I wouldn't give one gift it meant I could have my son with me this Christmas." AND SHE SAID IT WITH SO MUCH WARMTH, NOT HURT, NOR DEPRESSION. We debate on who should try and set her straight but I promote that I've been trying to help her over and over again, and all she does is agree and still act the same way. So we agree that we'll just pray because at the end of the day, that's all you can do sometimes for people. They have to do it themselves and prayer changes things.

This was a tale I had to share to hope and pray that nobody is depressed this holiday season for the wrong reasons. I have a house to call home, clothing on my back, food to eat and a job to go to. I have family and friends who truly love and appreciate me. If I don't give out one gift, only my one younger cuz, will be upset (history to that, haha). At the end of the day, if all I could do was just show my face between Christmas eve and the end of Christmas day, that would more than be enough. On the other hand, I haven't requested or expected a Christmas gift nor birthday gift since I was about 17 to the point that I would be upset if I didn't receive it. I am truly thankful that my needs are taking care of and that I have a fortune in Love in my account. Happy Holidays everybody...God Bless.

Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson) scored his 1,000th point Wednesday night and for a long stretch in the second half, it looked like he might come up short.

The Kutztown University men’s basketball team, however, never looked like it would come up short, routing Chestnut Hill 97-77 at Keystone Hall in a non-conference game.

Dennis, who scored 18 points in the first half, missed a few free throws and two jumpers midway through the second half, but he finally pushed his career total to 1,001 with a layup underneath with 3:24 left.

“It felt great,” Dennis said. “I came out strong with 18 in the first half, and then I was slow in the second half and I wasn’t sure I was going to get it, but I wound up pulling through.”

Dennis finished with 28 points, leading five Golden Bears in double digits.
Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central) finished with 19 points, Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) had 15 and Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) and Julius Gray (so. Lincoln/Oxford) each had 12. Ben also led KU with nine assists and eight rebounds.

KU (5-0) used a 13-2 run midway through the first half to build a 27-15 lead. Chestnut Hill (0-5) cut the lead to nine points twice, but KU pulled away each time and eventually went into halftime with a 20-point lead, 48-28.

The Golden Bears shot 65.2 percent (30-of-46) from the floor, including an 8-for-12 clip from 3-point range. Gray led KU with three 3-pointers and Dennis had two.

Chestnut Hill slowed down the second half with 20 fouls — totaling 34 in the game — sending KU to the line a season-high 42 times.

Dennis was 6-of-9 from the free-throw line, missing a few early in the second half. Sitting at 999 points for his career, he knew he had to get the job done at home before the Golden Bears hit the road for their next game.

“I was working hard to get it here at home,” he said. “Since last week when I looked at the schedule, I said to coach, ‘I need to get it on this night.’ So Ryan Washington told me to get to the basket and I did.”

After the basket, KU head coach Bernie Driscoll called timeout and Dennis made a curtain call to the crowd of 650 at Keystone Hall.

Dennis is the 19th player in KU history to score 1,000 points. He is now tied for 17th on the list and joins Ben, who scored his 1,000th point last season, also in a win over Chestnut Hill.

That wasn't it for milestones against Chestnut Hill last season. Driscoll picked up his 100th career win in that same victory.

KU will travel to Penn State-Berks for a 3 p.m. tipoff Saturday.

Maybe It's Just Me - "Stand Out"

This is going to correlate directly with my theme song (if you don't know what that is simply scroll down). I don't know if it's just me getting to old for my age or what but I don't fully understand or should I say go along with certain things as it seems most people do. Now is it just me or do most people say they are original now and days and that they aren't followers and so on and so on. Well if that's the case, what's up with everyone wearing scarves, INDOORS, as a fashion accessory. Now once again, maybe it's just me. I understand trends come and go, but at the end of the day, I was never one to really follow a trend because as I said they eventually go. Granted if i really liked a trend and it was something I could see myself always doing it even when people stopped, then yes, I went along with it. I used to wear scarves when it was cold outside, OUTSIDE, now I don't even want to wear one (yea sounds stupid) because I don't want to look like I'm following a trend because that is so not my thing. Anyways, maybe it's just me, but this whole rocking scarves INDOORS on top of Sunglasses when you not a celebrity with a buncha cameras in ya face just aint groovin with me.

Another thing is the slang that comes and goes. Now granted we all fall victim of adapting to it most times because its simple sometimes its to keep stuff somewhat of a secret and other times it may have started out as a joke and just stuck and other times it just really works and you couldn't imagine what took its place before it came about. A good example of a slang word or phrase that needs to be in the dictionary is "jawn/jaun" (however you spell it). It is one of the best slang words developed in philly. I didn't realize how much of a philly thing it was until I got to college, where I found myself actually explaining on multiple occasions the proper usage and definition of the word. It simply takes the place of a noun/pronoun. It's great. Now on the other end of the spectrum there's this whole "in my bag" movement. Like seriously, I understand what it means, and where it's going but at the same time, where the did that come from and why? I'm just not a fan of it, just say "I'm fly," "doing it," "showing off," or one of those originals. Like I said in the beginning, either I'm getting to old for my age be just going with the flow or I'm just more in tune with that them song than I thought. Stand out...

Bump on the head comclusion...

So I have a basketball game today at the Y league and I wasn't thinking about it for the most part until about 2 or 3. Anyways, this weekend I went to support my man Dre at an arena football league tryout. Being there led me to some interesting conclusions. For one, I really am a better athlete than I give myself credit for. Dre really does throw harder than most NFL quarterbacks. I could really be one of the best athletes on the east coast. Outside of that, I saw a number of people I knew that wondered why I wasn't trying out, and the answer simply was, "I'm not a football player anymore, I love my body too much." Most people understood that. Then, on the other spectrum there were people who I've played against in many basketball leagues who asked what I was doing there, and I responded with, "I'm a football player, this is what we do, I'm not really a basketball player, I just do that for fun and to stay in shape." Obviously we have a problem here. If I'm not a basketball player by natural talent but not a football player by choice, what am I? Then ironically I realized that my favorite player in all sports is MJ and his first love was football and baseball, but he ended up the most recognized if not best basketball player ever. Sometimes, its really not about what you want. Once again, these messages are settling in and really setting my course for me. What does all of this mean? I'm not a football player, basketball player, or any specific player, I'm a person blessed with great athletic abilities and need to use them because God gave them to me for a reason. I just pray I don't make anymore bad decisions. This game tonight should be interesting. Paul the knowingly "gifted" athlete will be playing tonight. Should be entertaining.

KU Overcomes Second-Half Deficit to Down Holy Family and Stay Unbeaten

Stephen Dennis (jr. West Chester/Henderson) and Dave Ben (sr. Coatesville/Coatesville) combined for 44 points to lead the Kutztown University men's basketball team to an 87-66 win at Holy Family University Sunday afternoon.

Dennis scored 23 points, dished out a career high nine assists and added seven rebounds and three steals. Ben scored 21 points, including 11 consecutive during a key second-half stretch that gave KU the lead for good.

Andre Woodlin (sr. Philadelphia/Central) had 13 points and Mark Bower (sr. West Deptford, N.J./West Deptford) scored 11 for KU (4-0). Ryan Washington (so. Philadelphia/Wissahickon) hauled in nine rebounds and scored eight points.

Ceazer Johnson scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high 15 boards for the Tigers (1-5). Justin Swidowski scored 16 points.

KU scored the game's first 11 points, but a 13-0 Holy Family run later in the first half knotted the score at 24-24. The Tigers broke a 37 all tie with the last five points of the first half and a 42-37 halftime lead.

Keith Whittington hit the first bucket of the second half for Holy Family's largest lead.
KU clawed back and then Ben took over. The senior guard's three-point play at the 15:08 mark tied the score at 48. Ben hit a layup on KU's next possession for the lead, then another three-point play and a 3-point field goal by Ben gave KU a 56-48 lead with 13:01 to play.

The Tigers closed to within four points with a little more than eight minutes to play, but a three-point play by Dennis and a 3-pointer by Woodlin gave KU a double-digit lead.

Dennis secured the game with 12 points down the stretch, going 4-for-4 from both the field and at the free throw line in the final 6:07.

KU returns to the court at 7 p.m. Wednesday when it hosts Chestnut Hill at Keystone Hall.
